It is no surprise that Cynthia Vincent has risen to great heights as a fashion designer; her talent was evident early on. As a teenager, she earned a M.A.G.I.C. scholarship to the Otis Art Institute of the Parsons School of Design in New York. Her early start as a student designer was marked by considerable recognition when she received, upon graduation, the Silver Thimble Award from Ann Cole. A competitive application process did not deter Vincent from succeeding in gaining employment at Jane Ong & Co., Ltd. in London, England, where she was chosen from among the best and the brightest in England and abroad, and it was not long before she was promoted to the position of head designer. In 1993, she was awarded the Rising Star in fashion award, an accolade that was only to foreshadow the achievements ahead for the budding designer. In 2002, Vincent decided to transition into a new brand called Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, which was to feature her more refined sensibilities. Twelfth Street became an instant hit among socialites and celebrities with signature items like silk crepe de chine slips, copious sweaters and velvet boudoir jackets. Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Bilson, and Scarlett Johansson are among the growing list of Vincent devotees in Hollywood. In 2005 the designer expanded her Twelfth Street line to include shoes, belts and other accessories.
